October 25 and there’s a thin crusty layer of white baked on to the ground. Two days ago grisly remains of our dead snowman — a sorry shrivelled carrot nose — lay orange and faded on the grass. Now it’s properly buried for the winter. So I’m prepping for Mexico and the sun and the snowmelt in May when it’ll be time to put Sailboat Yola back in the lake. I’ll be on Saillboat Susie until then, on the C of Cortez. Think about it — you know whatever carrots you find will not have dropped off some dying snowman’s melting face. Good place to be in the winter, eh?
Snowy cold is here …
